Salt River Blackpool Football Club (SRBFC) , the product of a merger between Salt River’s greatest rival club’s Blackpool Sport FC (est. 1953) and Salt River FC (est. 1992). This community football club, rich in history, today represents the football fraternity of the Salt River and Woodstock communities. Thought not limited to these areas, the club attracts members from as far as Philippi, Mfuleni, Khayelitsha and Mitchells Plain.
The club and it’s members are proud of what we as a community club achieved over a short period of time. In the past five years (2006-2011), with low resources and a through a strong community backing, the club achieved feats as getting flood-lights installed on its fields, qualifying for prestigious youth tournaments, reaching semi-pro senior football and much more. SRBFC continue to grow in numbers. Recording stats as 150 active junior players registered in the following age groups under-7 to under-19. Our senior community teams consist of; Super league, Reserve Team (1st Division), 2nd Team (2nd Division) and Over-40 team.
In 2011 the club’s franchise team won promotion from the SAB Regional League (formerly known as the Castle League) to the SAFA 2nd Division (formerly known as the Vodacom Promotional League). In 2012 SRBFC franchise formed a partnership with African Soccer Development academy (ASD) for the SAFA 2nd Division 2012/2013 season. This partnership team is known as SRB-ASD
